Are there any resources to educate my child[ren] about fire safety?
Yes. Each year F.D.N.V.; along with other area fire departments, participates in fire prevention and safety sessions at the various schools in North Versailles Township to teach children about fire safety, the importance of smoke / CO detectors, and what to do and not do in case of a fire.

Yes. There are detectors that use strobe lights and/or vibration to alert deaf or hard-of-hearing people.

How often should I test my smoke / CO detectors batteries?
You should consult the manufacture's manual for your detector and follow their instructions to properly test your detector.
General guideline: We recommend that you test your detector at least once a month.
